Words of Wisdom from Nancy

Nancy is one of the best painters and the most inspiring person I know. I am always learning something new from her and without her example I would have given up many times.

Knight of Skull and Roses

We've all heard of the "days of wine and roses" and when I decided to paint the roses I wanted something a little different than the usual... and I believe I found it by using the toy knight and the bobcat skull.

Fishing With Eagles

The eagle's nest had a couple of babies and the mother who probably needed a break stayed in a tree nearby. This was painted on site at the locks near Montezuma Wildlife Refuge, NY .

Happy Peppers

When I set up this still life it seemed like the peppers were laughing and one pepper fell over laughing. The egg plant seemed to be the "straight guy" .

Tom's Skull

My daughter has been "into" skulls lately. I don't understand HER fascination because she's a 30 year old hairstylist with two young children. As a painter, however, when I saw this skull in a friend's studio I actually looked until I was captured by it too. It makes me wonder who it was and realize that life is too too short.

I liked the way the light hit the onion and the sprout bringing up life while the skin peels.

Onion symbolizes the unity of many layers, the round shape symbolizes the cosmos and immortality, and the onion has been said to ward off evil.
